Digital Realty (NYSE: DLR), the leading global provider of cloud- and carrier-neutral data center, colocation, and interconnection solutions, operating in Croatia as Interxion Hrvatska d.o.o., has been honored with the Annual Award for Improving Safety at Work.
This accolade, presented by the trade magazine Sigurnost, recognizes small companies (up to 50 employees) for their significant contributions to workplace safety in Croatia.
The award acknowledges Digital Realty's innovative and outstanding efforts to enhance workplace safety and health culture. While data centers in Croatia may not yet be widely recognized in occupational safety and health, Digital Realty has proactively developed a comprehensive safety and health system. This system not only ensures the safety of all visitors and users but also addresses the specific risks and dangers associated with the IT industry in the digital age.
Key safety initiatives implemented by Digital Realty include a strict ban on the use of traditional "A ladders," opting instead for safer alternatives such as ladders with railings, aluminum work platforms, and other height-appropriate working platforms. Additionally, the company has introduced a server lifter—a mechanical device designed to lift and transport heavy IT equipment, supporting up to 227 kilograms. This tool is instrumental in minimizing physical strain and enhancing safety during equipment handling. Furthermore, Digital Realty has equipped its facilities with an automatic external defibrillator (AED) for emergencies, coupled with comprehensive employee training on its use.
"We are immensely proud to receive this award, which not only underscores our commitment to providing the safest possible environment for our users but also reflects our active engagement in enhancing our employees' working conditions," stated Goran Đoreski, Managing Director of Digital Realty in Croatia.
The award was accepted by Marijan Čančarević, SQHSE (Security, Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental) Manager, on behalf of Digital Realty during the 24th Occupational Safety Conference, held on December 4, 2024, at Hotel Antunović in Zagreb.
