A ballot can be obtained by various methods including mail, fax, and even email depending on state regulations.

Voters may consult guidelines for their state’s requirements and deadlines to submit their ballot for federal offices (President, U.S. Senate, and U.S. House of Representatives) including primaries and special elections.  The State Department also provides a helpful guide for voting while outside the United States.

U.S. citizens living outside the United States are reminded that even if they have voted abroad in the past, a new Federal Post Card Application (FPCA) must be submitted to local election officials to vote in U.S. elections.  Using the FPCA ensures that your state will send your ballot to you at least 45 days prior to the election.

With elections fast approaching, U.S. Embassy Zagreb is eager to assist your participation in democracy!  If your state requires you to return paper voting forms or ballots to local election officials, you can do so free of charge at U.S. Embassy Zagreb, by dropping them off in sealed envelopes at the embassy.  More detailed instructions on absentee voting from Croatia and ballot drop-off instructions are on Embassy website.
