AmCham representatives met with Šime Erlić, Minister of Regional Development and EU Funds (MRRFEU) and his associates - Zrinka Raguž, State Secretary, Sanja Slunjski, Director of the Directorate for the Implementation of the Operational Programmes and Financial Instruments (OPCC) and Luka Novosel, Head of the Sector for Strategic Planning and Development Management.
The purpose of the meeting was AmCham's position paper “Challenges of Absorption of EU funds in Croatia.”
The position paper addresses obstacles in the absorption of EU funds. AmCham proposes three key areas for improvement with specific recommendations, including enhancing existing digital systems, expanding the scope and providing clearer interpretation of state aid rules, as well as improving the procedural and time efficiency of the system.
Andrea Doko Jelušić, Executive Director of AmCham, emphasized that members recognize the significant potential of EU grant funds, which can greatly contribute to the development of entrepreneurship and help to bridge the gap toward the EU average level of development.
Minister Erlić welcomed the concrete proposals presented in AmCham's position paper, highlighting that MRRFEU is already actively working on some of them, such as improving the consolidation of digital systems for the application and implementation of EU funds, as well as strengthening institutional capacities to ensure timely and clear information for every entrepreneur.
Minister Erlić invited AmCham representatives to continue cooperation and dialogue on the potential of EU funds, which is in the shared interest of both the public and private sectors.
The meeting was attended by Andrea Doko Jelušić, Executive Director of AmCham, Dražen Malbašić, Policy Director, and Tomislav Vidović, Policy Officer.
