„Benefits that truly benefit“ or how to retain / attract the best talent from the labour market. European trends and practice

Marsh Hrvatska, one of the four operating companies of the MarshMclenann group, the largest risk management corporation in the world, organised for the first time in Croatia the TRS webinar in co-operation with Mercer, its sister company, jointly represented through the Mercer Marsh brand. MMB is the global leader in the health and employee benefits market. The objective of the TRS webinar was to present to employers and other interested partners the trends and innovations in the area of employee benefits schemes.

Marsh was represented by Iva Rogović Lekić, CEO of Marsh Hrvatska and Marko Marušić, who presented the insurance aspects of employee benefits, that is, insurance products that create added value for both employees and employers.

The representatives of Mercer, Nikola Vranjin, Radmila Krunić and Alina Popescu, presented results of the research of the employee remuneration programs in Croatia and Europe.

Nowadays it is extremely difficult to find or retain quality staff in the labour market. Employers are forced to seek new solutions and move away from traditional employee benefits.

High-performance companies clearly understand the health-and-work-behaviour equation.

Research shows that corporations which care about the wellbeing and satisfaction of their employees are more likely to build competitive advantage when it comes to potential growth and future investments.

In Croatia's insurance market there is a range of insurance products in the Employee Benefits segment, which add value to base pay and in respect of which employers are eligible to state tax incentives.

Such benefits can be a reward for all or selected employees as the tax regulations do not stipulate that non-taxable receipts must be provided to all employees, nor do they stipulate equal amounts for all employees. The employer decides who will be provided with such a form of economic benefit, under what conditions and in what amount.
