The American Chamber of Commerce in Croatia and its business delegation met with Ambassador Irena Andrassy at the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Croatia to the EU in Brussels.
During their visit to Brussels, AmCham's business delegation and together with AmCham's Executive Director and Policy director- Andrea Doko Jelušić & Dražen Malbašić, had a productive discussion on strengthening cooperation between national institutions and key stakeholders in Brussels with Ambassador Irena Andrassy at the Permanent Representation of Croatia to the EU. The conversation covered several critical areas, with a focus on enhancing collaboration between Croatia and the European Union to address current challenges and foster mutual growth.
Key topics that Ambassador Andrassy and our business delegation touched upon included the competitiveness of EU economies, particularly in light of the global economic landscape, and ways to enhance trade relations both within the EU and with external partners. Defense and security also took center stage, with discussions around the importance of a unified approach to safeguarding EU interests and the role of national contributions in maintaining European stability.
Additionally, the group explored the Multiannual Financial Framework 2021-2027, focusing on how Croatia and other Member States can leverage EU funds to support national development priorities, particularly in infrastructure, innovation, and sustainability. The EU enlargement was another important subject, with a focus on the future of the region and the integration of Western Balkans countries into the EU.
Finally, demographic challenges were addressed, with attention to how EU policies can support Member States in managing population aging, migration, and workforce shortages.
The meeting underscored the importance of continued collaboration between national governments, EU institutions, and the private sector to ensure that these critical issues are effectively addressed. AmCham remains committed to supporting these discussions and ensuring that Croatia’s voice is heard in shaping the future of Europe.
