art’otel Zagreb Opens with Boris Bućan’s Life’s Creativity

110-room hotel featuring YEZI dining concept and indoor pool, artistic concept features original art by Bućan.

Marking the hotel brand’s first opening in Croatia, art’otel Zagreb makes its debut in the city with work from late painter and graphic designer, Boris Bućan. The poignant last collection of his life’s creativity, layering his artwork within the inspirational fabric of the hotel, delivers a canvas for residents to enjoy during their stay and beyond. The opening follows art’otel’s hugely successful debut in Battersea, London, the celebration of art’otel Amsterdam’s 10 year anniversary this year and with new properties set to open in Hoxton & Rome in early 2024.

Soft opening in the first week of October in the Croatian capital, art'otel Zagreb fuses art, design, and hospitality. Located in the heart of the city centre, within the Jewish Liturgical Municipality building built by acclaimed architects Freudenreich & Deutsch in 1928, it is one of the best examples of Zagreb's Art Déco architecture. The hotel features 110 rooms, a rooftop bar (opening 2024), destination restaurant and bar YEZI, four meeting spaces, a spa and indoor pool.
The hotel’s artistic concept, designed by award-winning Interior Design Studio – Digital Space, features original art by art’otel Signature Artist, Boris Bućan. Paying homage to Bućan’s remarkable creative journey, art’otel Zagreb is a canvas for guests to connect with the artist’s legacy, forging an emotional connection with his distinctive expression. Born in Zagreb, Bućan belongs to the New Art Practice generation of artists who took an interest in combining visual art with newly available technologies such as photography, Polaroids, photocopies, film, video, and graphic design. Bućan’s work is globally revered, having appeared at the MoMA and the Tate, and now his bold and colourful distinctive style is showcased throughout art’otel Zagreb transforming the hotel into a living gallery and a one-of-a-kind tribute to his celebrated career.

Showcased in the hotel, guests can discover the art of elevated pan-Asian cuisine at YEZI Restaurant & Teahouse bringing a social fine dining experience inspired by the traditional Asian tea house style of informal eating, drinking & socialising. In a lively setting, guests celebrate the flavours and stories of modern Asian cuisine through the art of dim sum, mixology, tea and European patisserie. Overseen by Group Executive Head Chef Werner Seebach, Executive Chef Dino Kenzevic and renowned Dim Sum Chef Tom Tian Hau Low, expect a menu bursting with dim sum, sashimi salads, yakitori and more, plus exclusively designed tasting menus, and showstopping signature plates finished tableside.
Not only home to culinary delights, gaze upon Zagreb’s skyline from art’otel’s canvas spanning rooftop bar, expected to open in Spring 2024, where guests can sip and savour some of Zagreb’s best cocktails and bites with a panoramic view of the city. The elevated oasis showcases captivating sunsets that paint the sky with mesmerising hues with every detail from menu to vibe carefully curated to provide an unforgettable experience.
